The original
company was a
single 3,000
square foot
store in
Houston, Texas,
opened in 1989
by Margaret
McEntire and a
partner. The
partner moved to
another city,
and after buying
the partner out,
Margaret moved
the business to
Little Rock,
Arkansas. She
opened a 90
square foot shop
in a high
traffic area in
an affluent
neighbourhood in
town. People
started asking
her to teach
them how to
create Candy
Bouquets. A
friend of
Margaret's in
Washington D.C.
area was the
first to
contact. From
there, more than
twenty licenses
were sold by
'word of mouth'.
In 1993, the
company
incorporated and
began
franchising. By
the end of 1995,
there were 84
franchises,
including Puerto
Rico and Canada.
Candy Bouquet
International
now has 880
franchises
total, 110 of
which are part
of the growing
international
